Community Impact Officer
Our Community Impact Officer is the department’s proactive community outreach, engagement, and crime-prevention officer. The Community Impact Officer is dedicated to strengthening relationships between law enforcement and the community through innovative programs, signature events, strategic community policing, and traditional proactive police work.

Citizen's Police Academy (February 24 - March 31; 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM)
Provide hands-on learning, practical insights, and valuable networking opportunities to help academy members excel in the community.
Coldest Night of the Year Walk, Mercy Mission House (February 28, 2026)
The Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) is a family-friendly winter walk that raises vital funds for local organizations serving people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and hardship.

Teen Academy (June 3-5, 2026) - Tentative
An informal local law enforcement workshop to educate local high school-aged students about their local police department, the profession of policing, and enhance the communication between the youth residents of Sidney and the police who serve them.
Safety Town (June 8-12, 2026) - Tentative
Safety Town is a community-based, interactive program that teaches preschool and early elementary kids essential safety skills like traffic, fire, personal safety (safe strangers, animal safety, etc.), and bus safety through hands-on activities in a miniature town setting, preparing them for kindergarten and life.
National Night Out (First Tuesday in August, August 4, 2026)
National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Public Safety Cadet Program (Monthly Meetings)
The Public Safety Cadets program invites participants aged 14 to 20 to gain an in-depth understanding of law enforcement through training sessions and hands-on experiences. This program is designed to empower youth and foster interest in law enforcement careers.
