[ARCHIVED] Sidney Police Department Awards Officer of the Year

4L0A2997

On April 29, 2025, members of the Police Department’s Officer of the Year committee selected Officer Joshua Bayer as our agency’s Officer of the Year. Officer Bayer was selected unanimously from among the committee members. Officer Bayer was nominated by Sgt. Scott White and Public Safety Telecommunicator Pam Goins.

Their nominations read in part:

“Although Officer Bayer has been with our department for a limited amount of time, he has proven to be a great asset. Even though Officer Bayer is not one of my direct subordinates, I have worked with him enough to see his true value. Officer Bayer has previous experience at another department and is quick to volunteer knowledge and experience with his co- workers on second shift... On several occasions he has taken it upon himself to hold trainings at shift level. This shows his dedication to the department, his fellow officers, and the profession. Officer Bayer has also joined the Tactical Response team, shares his experiences and education with his teammates, and has been a great addition to the team. Officer Bayer is very personable and shares his thanks to the department through emails and personal acknowledgements. In addition to all of the above, Officer Bayer has assisted in solving several cases, using his knowledge in the use of various social media platforms. I have no doubt that some cases he and fellow officers have been involved in would have remained unsolved if it were not for his knowledge.”

“In the short times that I have worked with him it is very obvious that he displays strong leadership skills, I can see that his fellow officer’s look up to him and trust his judgement and knowledge. He worked hard and was dedicated in becoming a member of the TRT team, which sounds like he has been a great asset to the team. He displays confidence and professionalism when dealing with our citizens. I look forward to seeing his continued growth here; he is definitely an asset to our team.”

Congratulations, Officer Bayer, on receiving the Sidney Police Department’s 2025 Officer of the Year Award.
