The City of Sidney Water Department’s spring hydrant flushing schedule will begin on Monday, April 21. Flushing of the city’s fire hydrants will be completed between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The program will continue for three weeks, Monday through Friday, ending on May 9, 2025.
Work will start in the area bounded by Fielding Road on the south, Brooklyn Avenue on the west, the Water Treatment Plant on the east, and Dingman-Slagle Road on the north. A full schedule is available online. Inclement weather may cause delays.
Residents in the immediate flushing area may experience a short, temporary drop in pressure and could notice some discoloration in the water. It is advisable to NOT do laundry in the designated areas during the flushing period.
Hydrant flushing is a controlled procedure that is vital to the general maintenance of the city’s water distribution system. It ensures adequate water flow is available to firefighters, residents, and businesses. It also improves water quality by clearing iron and other mineral deposits from the water mains.
If you experience severe problems as a result of the hydrant flushing, contact the Sidney Water Treatment Plant at 937-498-8127.
