[ARCHIVED] Sidney Department of Fire and Emergency Services Responded to a Structure Fire

At 3:01 a.m. on March 19, 2025, the Sidney Department of Fire & Emergency Services responded to a call regarding a structure fire at 214 Franklin Ave., Sidney, Ohio.

Upon arrival, fire crews found a detached building fully engulfed in flames at the rear of the property. The structure was being used as storage. Fire crews deployed several attack lines to control the fire. The fire caused significant damage to the structure rendering it unstable with a collapse imminent. Fire crews were on scene for approximately 3 hours to conduct overhaul and standby while a backhoe and operator from the City of Sidney demolished the building. No injuries were sustained.  

Estimated Property Loss:

  • Structure – $25,000
  • Content – $7,000

Cause: 

  • The cause of the fire is incendiary (arson). One person of interest has been identified. This case is still under investigation. If anyone has information about this incident, please call the Sidney Police Department at 937-498-2351.

The Sidney Police Department, City of Sidney Streets Department, and off-duty Sidney Fire personnel assisted at the scene.
