Updates Planned to Roadside Park

Computer rendering of the new play structure for ages 2-5 planned for Roadside Park

Annually, the city’s parks are reviewed to determine the next facility that will be updated with a new play structure and surrounding features. Roadside Park was identified as having not necessarily the oldest structure, but possibly the most worn. The play equipment was installed in 2002 and is well past its typical service life of 15 years. This piece is being replaced due to its appearance and potential safety concerns.

The new structure, which is designed for children ages 2-5, was ordered from GameTime, at an approximate cost of $30,000.00. Weather permitting, parks staff will be installing the features this winter.

In addition to the new Roadside Park play structure, a new glider swing will be added, a bench in the play area will be added, an old grill will be replaced and a chair swing that allows children with special needs to swing alongside their friends and peers, will be hung on the existing swing set. These additional amenities will cost about $4,100.00.

Roadside Park will be ready for play again in the spring.
