At 2:42 PM on February 4, 2023, the Sidney Department of Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to 528 S. Main on a report of a structure fire.
A two story duplex with smoke showing from the attic space was found upon Sidney Firefighter arrival. Sidney Police Officers were on scene and advised that all occupants were out of both units.
Firefighters completed an interior search, located the fire in the attic space, and quickly brought the fire under control. Extensive damage was noted to the attic space.
A box alarm was requested for the incident and all off duty Sidney firefighters, along with Anna Fire, Lockington Fire and Piqua Fire Department medic were requested to respond.
Sidney firefighters handled one medic call during the incident.
The fire loss to the property is estimated at $30,000
AES Power, Center Point, and the City of Sidney water department was request to respond to the scene to secure utilities.
No injuries were noted to firefighters, police officers, or occupants.
Red Cross was requested to respond to the scene for housing for three adults and four children of two separate families.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Sidney Fire Department investigation unit.
