Barhorst

Sidney City Manager Andrew Bowsher announced earlier today, that Assistant Fire Chief Eric Barhorst was notified by the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Association (OFCA) of his successful completion of the organization’s uniform credentialing program.

Barhorst began his career with the City of Sidney Department of Fire and Emergency Services in June 1999. He was promoted to Lieutenant on October 25, 2009 and then to Assistant Fire Chief on June 22, 2015.

“Assistant Chief Barhorst is a proven leader with an exemplary history of service to the City of Sidney and surrounding areas, including his hometown of Fort Loramie Ohio where his father served as a long-time fire chief. Completion of this training ensures that Assistant Chief Barhorst is better prepared to serve the department, the community as well as other professional organizations,” shared City Manager Andrew Bowsher. “This is a tremendous achievement!”

“Assistant Chief Eric Barhorst is a trusted and valued member of our leadership team. Throughout his outstanding career, his commitment to continuous improvement has been evidenced by countless projects and initiatives that he has championed. This credentialing designation as an Ohio Fire Chief is an extension and demonstration of his professionalism and desire to serve the community and our department with distinction and excellence. I am extremely pleased that AC Barhorst chose to submit his credentialing application. His body of work has been measured against a high standard and has been found worthy of this recognition. I am thankful that he is a key leader in our exceptional organization!”

The goal of the OFCA Credentialing Program is to ensure a strong degree of accountability. The Credentialing Program sets forth the goals needed for chief fire officers to establish a higher degree of professionalism so that fire chiefs may be better prepared to serve their department, their community, and other organizations. The goal is to promote the professional development of the chief fire officer in Ohio and to assist these chiefs in their daily operations, management, and leadership.
