City Council will be considering legislation on March 28 to officially return the Goodwin Lot, located at the northeast corner of Poplar Street and West Avenue, to free public parking. The parking lot was previously reserved for the residents of Canal Place Apartments.
The gate arm was recently removed along with the related signage. City staff will be working to remove the parking blocks on the north end of the Goodwin lot and relocating the dumpster placed in the lot to allow traffic to flow freely between the Goodwin Lot and the parking lot behind the Ohio Building and Post Office.
This change, along with those adopted by City Council in 2021(Ordinance A-3040) to permit free public parking in certain city-owned parking lots from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and all day on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays observed by the City of Sidney, helps to make additional parking available to downtown patrons.
Free parking in the downtown is also available in the parking lot south of Court Street between West Avenue and Franklin Street; the parking lot south of South Street between West Avenue and Franklin Street; and the parking lot at the corner of Ohio Avenue and Lane Street.
