In early January the SR 47 Safety Improvements Phase IV from Fourth Avenue to I-75 project was awarded to Eagle Bridge Company.
The City of Sidney received safety funding from the Ohio Department of Transportation for safety enhancements for motorized and non-motorized traffic; to improve intersection safety to alleviate angle and left turn crashes; improve non-motorized mobility and connectivity; improve roadways to current design standards; and to enhance traffic flow on State Route 47 from Fourth Avenue to I-75.
The total project cost including design, construction and construction engineering is $2,108,964.33. Federal and State safety funds to cover 80% of total project cost. Federal and state safety funds will cover $1,702,833.07 of the total project costs; the city’s share is $406,131.26.
The project includes, crosswalk visibility enhancement and addition of countdown pedestrian signal heads; widening the roadway near Sixth Avenue along with driveway elimination, addition of a multi-use path along the south side of State Route 47; mast arm traffic signal installation; replacement of guardrail median with a raised concrete median; along with enhanced signage along the corridor.
Utility clearance work is currently underway. Construction is tentatively scheduled to start in April 2022, pending delivery of materials. Construction is expected to be complete in November 2022.
