On February 10, 2021, at 03:49, the Sidney Department of Fire and Emergency Services received a report of a house fire located 839 Crescent Drive.
The first units on scene reported heavy fire to the rear of the two-story, single-family home. The occupants were outside on arrival and reported that no one was inside the structure.
Firefighters utilized a transitional attack by first extinguishing fire from the exterior of the structure and then entering to complete extinguishment. A search of the structure confirmed that no other occupants were in the structure.
DP&L was requested to secure the electric to the structure and Vectren to lock out the gas meter.
No injuries occurred to any civilians or firefighters during the incident. Damage is estimated at $60,000 to the structure and $25,000 to the contents. Mutual aid was received from Anna, Lockington, and Port Jefferson Fire Departments and Perry-Port Salem EMS. The Sidney Fire Department Investigation Unit has ruled the fire as undetermined at this time.
