Online Ticket Payment

These citations cannot be paid online:

  • Any felony or indictable offense
  • Drag racing
  • Driving under suspension
  • Fleeing/eluding a law enforcement officer
  • If your ticket is checked as a "Mandatory Appearance" or if the issuing law enforcement agent has written "Mandatory Appearance" on the ticket you may not pay online instead of appearing.
  • Illegal license plates
  • Leaving the scene of an accident
  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs of abuse - or permitting another to do so
  • Passing a school bus
  • Physical control
  • Reckless operation of a motor vehicle - unless court authorized.

Proof of Insurance

Proof of insurance or Financial Responsibility (FRA) is a State of Ohio requirement. To verify that you showed proof of insurance to the officer, look at your sample citation (PDF). The top right portion of the ticket will have a box labeled "Financial Responsibility Proof".

If the "yes" box is checked then that officer is indicating to the Court that you showed correct insurance information at the time of your stop.

Show Insurance to Bureau of Motor Vehicles

If the "no" box is checked then you are still required to show proof of insurance to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV). You will receive a letter from the BMV that requests Proof of Financial Responsibility. You are subject to a Driver's License Suspension if you fail to submit proper proof by the date requested.

Suspension Notice

The BMV will send the notice to the last known address that they have on file for you (regardless of the address on the citation). If your driver's license does not have your current address listed on it, you may not receive this letter, and would still be subject to a license suspension. Please be sure to correct your address with the BMV registrar each time that your address changes.

Payment of Citations Without Court Appearance

Certain traffic violations may be resolved without requiring a Court Appearance. If your citation qualifies you may pay the amount due online by credit card, debit card or e-check. You must pay the total amount due by the date and time listed on the bottom portion of your citation or by the date of the extension granted from the Judge.

No partial payments on waivers will be accepted.

Final Authorization

By submitting your information to request payment you understand that you are pleading "Guilty" to all charges against you as listed on the citation, consequently waiving your right to an appearance in Court or to a trial. You further understand that, when processed, this will close your case and the Court will forward this information to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the appropriate points will still be added to your license.

Payment Plans

If you have been placed on a payment plan by the Judge, you may make your monthly payment online as long as you are current in your payments and in compliance with your signed agreement. If you are not current, or are otherwise not compliant you must appear before your payment officer and make your payment in person. If you have moved or changed any personal information since your last payment you must notify your payment officer of these changes immediately.
