Taxpayer Rights & Responsibilities

The Income Tax Division is responsible for administering the Income Tax Ordinance. Employees of the division are available between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday to provide assistance to taxpayers in the filing of income tax returns or other Sidney income tax documents and/or to provide answers to questions relating to the tax.
The City of Sidney enacted a municipal income tax in 1957. The tax is applicable to all residents of the city as well as all non-residents working within the city and all businesses located or performing services here. The current income tax rate is 1.75%.

Annual Interest Rate for late payment calculation:  

  • For tax years beginning on or after January 1, 2016 the new annual interest rate to be applied is calculated  in accordance with Ohio Revised Code Section 718.27(A)(5) to be 5.0% (.42% per month).  This rate will be updated yearly by October 31 for the next calendar year. 
For tax year’s beginning on or before
January 1, 2016 the existing interest rate is 18.0%.
