Sidney Ohio Police Department

The Records Department staff consists of two full-time clerks and operates Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Records Department is responsible for maintaining all Police Department records, including calls for service, arrest reports, incident reports and motor vehicle accident reports.

  • Records Department clerks are the contact point for the release of all Police Department public records.  Most reports are made available within 48 - 72 hours after they were taken.  It is suggested that you call the Records Department for availability and obtaining the cost of a report prior to coming to the Police Department.

The Records Department charges $ .05 per page for copies of reports.  Requests for copies of reports can be obtained in person at the Records Department during normal business hours.  Copies of reports can also be requested by mail, addressed to Sidney Police Department, Attn: Records Department, 201 W. Poplar St., Sidney, OH 45365.  All requests sent by mail should include a written request with a self-addressed stamped envelope and payment for copies of report(s). 

  • The Records Department provides local Record Checks.  Record Checks can be obtained at the Business Office by completing a Request for Criminal Arrest/Traffic Record form and the cost is $3.00 per individual.  Record Checks are local and will only reflect any criminal arrests or traffic citations issued by the Sidney Police Department.


 

The Records Department issues City of Sidney Permit Parking Placards for two city lots and on-street parking.  Upon completion of application, placards are issued quarterly at $30.00 per space. 

  •  The Records Department accepts and receipts payment for Sidney Police Department issued parking tickets during normal business hours. 

The Records Department manages applications for Special Event Permits and Solicitor Permits.  Special Event Permits are free of charge and Solicitor Permits cost $25.00 per person and expire at the end of the year the permit is issued. 

  • The Alarm Administrator maintains applications, permits and fees for alarm companies.  Also monitors alarm calls for service and collects false alarm fees from alarm holders, when applicable.

 

The Sidney Police Department complies with the Ohio Public Records Act when fulfilling requests for public records.
