FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC JOB TESTING
The City of Sidney will be using the National Testing Network, a civil service examination for Firefighter, to establish an eligiblity list.
Qualifications: at least 18 and not more than 41 years of age at the time of appointment, High School Diploma or GED equivalent, valid driver's license, the ability to obtain and maintain a Firefighter Level II and EMT-B certification, and successfully pass the civil service test.
Since May 2016, the Department has welcomed six new personnel.
Adam Schulze is a graduate of Marion Local High School and completed his Level I and II and paramedic certification at Sinclair Community College. He is also a Fire Safety Inspector and comes to Sidney from the Wapakoneta Fire Department. He previously worked for the Washington Township and Beavercreek Fire Departments and resides in Wapak with his wife Leana.
Derek Stitzel is a graduate of Erie School District (Pennsylvania) and has his Firefighting Level I and II and EMT-Basic certifications. He is presently in the Army National Guard and worked part-time for Med Trans, Riverside Fire Department, Johnson-St. Paris Fire District, and Quincy/Miami Township EMS. He resides in St. Paris with his wife Jessica.
Caleb Dersch is a graduate of Northwestern High School (Springfield) and has his Firefighting Level I and II and paramedic certifications. He worked part-time for Vandalia Fire Department, Trotwood Fire & Rescue, and Pike Township Fire Department. He resides in Springfield with his girlfriend Courtney.
Andrew Zumberger is a graduate of Russia High School, completed his Firefighter Level I and II and EMT-Basic certifications and is working on his paramedic certification. He has worked part-time for Electro Controls in Sidney and the Englewood Fire Department and Vandalia Fire Department. He and his wife Kelli live in Sidney.
Kyle Meyer is a graduate of Sidney High School and completed his Firefighting Level I and II certifications at Sinclair Community College, and received his Paramedic certificate from Grant Medical Center. He comes to Sidney from the Circleville Fire Department and has experience in ice water rescue. Kyle previously worked for the Washington Township, and currently resides in Circleville.
Collin Habel is a graduate of Arcanum High School and has an Associates Degree in Fire Science Engineering and Technology from Sinclair Community College. He has his Firefighting Level I and II and EMT-Basic certifications. Collin is currently pursuing his Paramedic certificate. He has worked part-time for Arcanum Volunteer Fire Department. He currently lives in New Madison.
