On May 23, 2016 the Firefighter of the Year for 2015 was awarded to Mark Pleiman. Mark has been with the department for almost 17 years.

A graduate of Fort Loramie High School in Fort Loramie, OH. A certified paramedic, he has an Associates degree in Emergency Medical Service/Fire Science Administration from Sinclair College; is a long-standing member of our Labor/Management Committee and a committee member of our Strategic Planning Process, and has been an educator in the Juvenile Fire Setter program.

During his career, Mark has received numerous Record of Exceptional Performance recognition: for his teamwork in a car accident in which one car was in the water and the driver needed extricated in 2009; for his professionalism and quick actions in a multiple car accident in 2012; his efficiency in rescuing a trapped car accident victim in 2011; for his quick actions and skill which helped save a life during a medic call in which a patient was in respiratory distress in 2014 and also for rescue efforts in an early morning house fire later that year. He received a Letter of Commendation for the rescue of victims in an auto accident in 2004 in which his own life was in danger when a second car spun out of control, causing the crew to dive over the guard rail to avoid injury and also in 2013 when at a structure fire, demonstrated exceptional teamwork and leadership skills. He also received a Fire Chief’s Commendation Award in 2002 for tirelessly working to free a victim from a structural collapse.

Mark and his wife Diane have two children, Elizabeth and Caleb, and reside in Fort Loramie.

FF Pleiman is clearly a credit to the Department and an asset to the entire community. It is my pleasure to present the Firefighter of the Year Award to Mark Pleiman.
