Household Hazardous Waste Collection Changes for Sidney and Shelby County Residents

Every home has some type of product in it that if not used, stored, or disposed of properly may become hazardous. Pesticides, cleaning products, pool chemicals, paint, used oil, propane tanks, and gasoline are just a few.

When they are no longer needed or usable they become "Household Hazardous Waste" and now have to become part of the waste stream. Anywhere along the disposal route household hazardous waste can be a threat to the public, solid waste workers and the environment if not disposed of properly. That is why it is so important to dispose of hazardous waste at an appropriate facility and not within your household garbage container.

Hazardous household wastes can be brought to the following transfer stations closest to our area for proper disposal. For additional locations please call North Central Ohio Solid Waste District Household Hazardous Waste department at (800) 553-6763 ext. 20 or (419) 228-8278 ext. 20 or visit their web site. Appointments are required. There is a fee ($1.00 per pound) for items brought for disposal.
