Part Time Communications Technician
(911 Dispatcher)
This position is responsible for receiving and dispatching incoming calls or in-person requests for police, fire and rescue services. The Sidney Police Department Communications Center is a 24 hour, seven day a week public safety communications facility. Salary range is $15.63 - $20.25.

Qualifications include:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Pass a Polygraph test, background check, psychological assessment and physical examination
• Ability to secure required CPR and LEADS certifications
• Successfully complete basic public safety, emergency medical and fire service dispatch courses during the first six month’s of probation
• Must have good clerical skills and ability to remain calm while responding to emergency situations.
• Must become and maintain Shelby County residency within one year from the date of hire

Police Officer

The City of Sidney Ohio (pop. 20,000), is currently accepting applications for Entry – Level Police Officer. This is a Civil Service Position and will require the passing of various test and interviews. A physical fitness test and written examination will be offered on June 21, 2008 and June 22, 2008. The candidate must pass the physical fitness test to be eligible to take the written examination. Successful applicants will be placed on an eligibility list to fill future vacancies. The current starting salary for this position is $42,577.60 per year plus excellent benefits.

Requirements: To receive an original appointment to the Police Department, a person must have reached the age of twenty-one (21) and no person is eligible to receive an original appointment when the person is thirty-five (35) years of age or older, High School Diploma or GED equivalent, U.S. Citizen, valid drivers license, and a resident of Shelby County or become a resident within one (1) year from the date of appointment.

POOL:

Lifeguards- Lifeguards are in charge of overseeing three pools and a waterslide.
Position Description

WSI Supervisor- In charge of swimming lessons and oversees other WSI instructors.

All pool personnel must have the following:

SHELBY PUBLIC TRANSIT

Part-time Sub-Drivers


The Shelby Public Transit Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transport of passengers, daily collection of fares and reconciliation with daily manifest sheet. The incumbent will work varied hours and transport an average of 20 passengers per day. Starting wage is $8.52. This position is subject to alcohol and controlled substances testing as required by ODOT and FTA. Qualifications include:

1. Pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical including a drug screen and breath alcohol test, and criminal background check.
2. Physically able to assist passengers, which include lifting, pulling, bending, and kneeling.
3. Ability to climb in and out of the vehicle repeatedly during a shift.
4. Possess a valid Ohio Drivers License, CDL not required.
5. High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
6. Ability to read a map, do basic math, and write legibly.
7. Be able to follow oral and written instructions.
