The Economic Development mission of the City of Sidney is to retain and attract commercial, retail and industrial business, and diversify the job base to increase opportunity and attract quality jobs. In cooperation with the West Ohio Development Council, Sidney-Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, and the Shelby County Commissioners, the City of Sidney strives to create a friendly environment for business and industry to expand and locate in Sidney. The City of Sidney ranks number 12 on Site Selection Magazine's Top 100 Small Towns for new and expanded facilities in 2007 and 20th in 2006. Proximity to the interstate highway system and CSX railroads, both north-south and east-west, provide key transportation assets for industries. Close proximity to the automotive industry “big 3” – Detroit, Marysville (Honda), and Georgetown (Toyota) - makes Sidney an ideal location for a variety of manufacturers.
